Den mörka sidan: ADHD vanligt vid substansbruk och kriminalitet

In this review article, we describe the current state of knowledge regarding the comorbidity of ADHD, addiction, and criminality. Evidence-based treatment should be offered concurrently, preferably within the same healthcare unit, and the requirement for a drug-free period before assessment should be individualized. There is no evidence to suggest that treatment with central stimulant medications increases the risk of addiction. On the contrary, adequate treatment appears to be able to protect against the development of addiction.
